Valuing diversity: guidance for the labour market integration of migrants
CEDEFOP VALUING DIVERSITY 0914 en
This recently published study (September 2014) by CEDEFOP looks at how EU countries support the economic integration of immigrants from third countries through the provision of careers information and guidance, enabling the immigrants to acquire career management skills (CMS). It examines this through the experiences of 13 countries according to four categories of interest: (a) with a tradition of receiving immigrants: cases in Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal and the United Kingdom (integrated in this group, although it has traditionally been a country characterised by both immigration and emigration); (b) which have more recently entered the EU: cases in Estonia and Latvia; (c) which evolved from emigration to immigration countries: cases in Greece, Spain, Italy; and (d) which have recently started to have immigration mainly due to a large intake of political refugees: cases in Sweden.
