DEVELOPING THE YOUNG WORKFORCE (AGES 3-18): THE CAREER EDUCATION STANDARD, SCOTLAND, UK
In September 2015, Education Scotland, an agency of Scottish Government, published a Career Education Standard for children and young people as they make their way through school and learn about the world of work.
The Standard is set out according to:
-the Career Education entitlements of children and young people
-the expected support from: parents and carers; teachers and practitioners; Skills Development Scotland; and employers.
The Standard provides a set of illustrative statements of what children and young people can do as a result of Career Education. These are divided according to the following stages of schooling:
-Early schooling
-First level
-Second level
-End of junior high school
-End of senior high school
A Glossary of career education terms is also provided to enable clear communication between all of the stakeholders.
